Free Account-Based Marketing (ABM) Presentation Template
ABM is the strategy that finally forces marketing and sales to agree. When you commit to a list of named accounts and run coordinated campaigns against them, you can't hide behind volume metrics. Every marketing dollar either moved a target account or it didn't. This presentation template helps revenue leaders build the ABM case, align the team on the model and playbooks, and set up the measurement infrastructure that proves it.
What This Template Covers
Slide 1: What ABM Is (and What It Isn't)
ABM inverts the traditional demand generation funnel. Traditional demand gen: cast wide, attract many leads, qualify them down, pass a few to sales. ABM: identify the specific accounts you want to win, then surround them with coordinated marketing and sales activity until they're ready to buy — or until you learn they're not a fit.
What ABM is not: renaming your current demand gen program "ABM" because you added account targeting to your LinkedIn campaigns. Real ABM requires sales and marketing to agree on the target account list before campaigns launch, and to jointly work those accounts with coordinated outreach.
The business case for ABM: higher ACV deals (you're going after accounts sized for your product), shorter sales cycles (multiple stakeholders engaged early), and higher win rates (coordinated multi-threaded outreach vs. single-thread SDR sequences).
Slide 2: The Three ABM Models
1:1 Strategic ABM
- Target: 5–50 named enterprise accounts
- Investment: Bespoke campaigns, custom content, dedicated ABM marketers
- Typical ACV target: $250K+
- Examples: Custom executive briefing centers, account-specific research reports, personalized microsites
- Team: 1 ABM marketer per 5–10 accounts, paired with enterprise AEs
1:Few ABM Lite
- Target: 50–500 accounts clustered by shared characteristics (same industry, same tech stack, same growth stage)
- Investment: Segment-specific campaigns with light personalization
- Typical ACV target: $50K–$250K
- Examples: Industry-specific content tracks, segment webinars, vertically customized ad campaigns
1:Many Programmatic ABM
- Target: 500–5,000 accounts
- Investment: Technology-driven personalization at scale
- Typical ACV target: Under $50K
- Examples: Personalized landing pages by industry, intent-triggered ad sequences, dynamic email personalization
Most companies start with 1:Few, graduate to 1:1 for top strategic accounts, and layer programmatic for broader coverage.
Slide 3: Target Account Selection Criteria
Your target account list is your most important strategic decision in ABM. A bad list means wasted marketing spend on accounts that will never buy. Score accounts on five dimensions:
Firmographic fit
- Industry: Is this a vertical where you have proven ROI and case studies?
- Company size: Does their employee count or revenue match your ICP?
- Geography: Are they in a market you can serve and support?
Technographic fit
- What tools do they currently use? (Source: Bombora, HG Insights, Clearbit Technographics)
- Do they use complementary tools that signal readiness for your product?
- Are they running tools your product replaces?
Intent signals
- G2 profile views and category research
- Competitor comparison page visits (tracked via reverse IP or 6sense)
- Topic surge on Bombora for keywords related to your category
- Job postings indicating they're building a team that would use your product
Relationship signals
- Executive LinkedIn connections with your leadership team
- Prior engagement with your content, events, or website
- Existing customers who champion your product at their new company
Revenue potential
- Estimated ACV based on company size and use case
- Expansion potential: if they start with one team, can they grow to the full enterprise?
Slide 4: ABM Content and Campaign Playbooks
Account-specific content For 1:1 accounts: build personalized assets. A personalized landing page that references the account's specific business challenges, uses their logo and color scheme, and includes a custom ROI calculator built on their publicly available metrics. A custom executive brief that frames your product's value in the context of their stated strategic priorities (pulled from their annual report, earnings call, or CEO interview).
Multi-touch campaign sequences A coordinated ABM play includes multiple channels in sequence, not in silos:
- LinkedIn connection from the AE to the target stakeholder
- Direct mail to the physical office (a relevant book, a thoughtful gift, a personalized note)
- Targeted digital ads (account-matched via 6sense or Demandbase) on LinkedIn and programmatic display
- Personalized email from the AE referencing the content or direct mail
- Phone follow-up referencing the full sequence
- Event invitation (virtual roundtable or in-person executive dinner)
Executive programs CXO roundtables: 8–12 executives from non-competing companies, facilitated peer conversation on a hot topic. Your company hosts, provides the venue and facilitator, but does not present your product. Builds relationships with economic buyers who avoid vendor sales meetings but will attend peer learning events.
Executive advisory councils: Invite 10–20 customers and prospects to advise your product roadmap. Prospects feel valued and gain insider access; you get a warm relationship with potential buyers.
Slide 5: ABM Technology Stack
Intent data
- Bombora: Topic-based intent, aggregated across B2B publisher network
- TechTarget: Intent from technology buyers actively researching your category
- G2 Buyer Intent: Real-time signals from G2 profile views and category comparisons
Display and retargeting
- Demandbase: Account-matched display advertising, website personalization, and analytics
- 6sense: Predictive account scoring, intent signals, multi-channel campaign orchestration
- RollWorks: ABM display and retargeting for mid-market budgets
Personalization
- Mutiny: Website personalization by company, industry, or account list without engineering
- Vidyard: Personalized video messages from AEs to target accounts (high open and reply rates)
Conversation and engagement
- Drift or Qualified: Account-identified chat routing — when a target account visits your pricing page, route them instantly to the AE who owns the account
Measurement
- Demandbase or 6sense account engagement score: aggregated measure of how active a target account is across all your channels (website, ads, email, events)
Slide 6: ABM Metrics and Measurement
Measure ABM differently from demand gen. Impressions and MQLs are the wrong metrics.
Coverage metrics (are you reaching your targets?)
- Target account coverage: What % of your target account list has had at least one engagement touchpoint?
- Persona coverage: How many stakeholder personas within each account have you engaged? (Champion, economic buyer, technical evaluator, end user)
Engagement metrics (are accounts moving?)
- Account engagement score trend: Is the score increasing over the quarter?
- Engagement breadth: Number of engaged contacts per account
- Content consumption: Which accounts are reading your content, attending your events, watching your videos?
Pipeline metrics (is it converting?)
- Pipeline from target accounts: What % of total pipeline comes from accounts on the ABM list?
- ACV from ABM accounts: Average deal size from ABM accounts vs. non-ABM
- Sales cycle length: ABM vs. non-ABM (should be shorter for ABM due to multi-threaded engagement)
- Win rate: ABM accounts vs. non-ABM
Business outcome metrics
- Revenue from ABM accounts as % of total revenue
- Customer lifetime value from ABM-sourced accounts
Slide 7: Sales and Marketing Alignment
ABM fails when sales and marketing operate in separate lanes. The organizational prerequisites:
Shared account list: Sales nominates accounts, marketing scores and validates against ICP criteria, revenue leadership approves the final list. Quarterly review to add accounts as companies grow into ICP, and remove accounts that have been dormant for 90 days with no engagement.
Joint account planning: For 1:1 accounts, marketing and the AE build a joint account plan: who are the target stakeholders, what content do we need, what's the outreach sequence, what's the timeline?
Shared success metrics: Marketing is measured on account engagement and pipeline influenced, not MQLs. Sales is measured on account coverage and outreach breadth, not just call volume.
SLA on target accounts: When a target account reaches a defined engagement threshold (e.g., three stakeholders engaged, pricing page visit), marketing immediately alerts the AE and the SDR starts a high-touch sequence within 24 hours.
How to Use This Template
This presentation works for three audiences: the executive team (slides 1–2 to build the business case and secure investment), the sales team (slides 3–4 to align on account selection and playbooks), and marketing leadership (slides 5–7 for technology, measurement, and operational setup).
Customize the target account count and ACV thresholds to your business model before presenting. Build the ABM business case with specific financial projections: if you move 20 target accounts from unengaged to active pipeline, what is the expected revenue impact based on your historical win rate and ACV?
